My husband can keep a secret

My husband can keep a secret

There’s been so much going on around here. I really should blog more. But I guess being too busy enjoying life is good enough reason to let the blog lack a bit. Agree? :)

So the SensatioNail giveaway was a hit and we had a wonderful winner! So fun. I’m still playing with the different colors and adding glitter paint on top now and then. Who knew I had it in me.

Mother’s Day has come and gone and it was wonderful. My husband out did himself this year.

My husband, in the past, was all about the gift card bought last minute (literally, that afternoon) and maybe a card. It’s the thought that counts, right? But that’s why this didn’t mean much to me, there was no thought to it. Don’t get me wrong, i’m not completely ungrateful, it was always nice.

However, every now and then, he surprises me and makes me all swoony.

Once, he watched the baby for a few hours. Nothing too major but apparently it hit a nerve with him and the next day I got the most heartfelt card and some spending money.

There was thought there.

For Mother’s Day this year he surprised me by getting together with a friend of mine and buying me a necklace I had pinned to my Pinterest. (The friend helped because he had no clue how to do Pinterest nor how to order from Stella & Dot.) As much as I LOVE this necklace, I was almost in tears when when I opened it because of the thought and the time he took. Right now he’s busier than ever at work but he still found time to make me feel important. The thought was a gift in itself.

Hey kept telling me there was more, I had another gift coming but since he is terrible at keeping secrets, I was sure I could get it out of him but no luck. His commitment to his secret was admirable (and annoying).

Turns out my big surprise came via Southwest Airlines last Thursday in the form of my little brother Bobby.

I am blessed because I am loved.

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all you moms out there. We have a tough job.

PS. I remembered to send my own mom a card this year. :)

Okay so Miss Jennifer told me I had to add in this little tid-bit of information. So when my brother and my husband walked in I was changing the baby in her room. Once I turned around and saw my brother I ran to hug him leaving a half naked baby sitting on the changing table with a WTF look on her face. Mom fail. My husband has it all on tape too. Haha.

Giveaway- SensatioNail Gel Nail Polish!

Giveaway- SensatioNail Gel Nail Polish!

Not since the introduction of acrylic has something so drastically changed the way we polish our nails. Gel nail polish has taken salons by storm and everyone is clamoring to get in on the beauty action.

If you’re not familiar with gel polish allow me to blow your mind. Gel polish is all the rage because it’s thin and flexible, meaning there will be no cracking or chipping of your lovely manicure and lasts up to 2 whole weeks (sometimes more depending on how fast your nails grow and what you get your hands into). Also, gel polish protects the underlying nail from breaking or chipping so you nails can grow long and strong. Gel polish is perfect for someone who has trouble growing their nails. If all that is not enough, the polish also stays extra shiny for the life of your manicure AND is perfectly dry within seconds. ZERO dry time!

It wasn’t so long ago that I was calling around to even find a nail salon that carried this magical nail polish everyone was talking about, the only drawback being that it could only be done by a professional in a salon. Bummer…until now.

As a stay-at-home-mom my hands are everywhere, and I mean everywhere (use your imagination, I won’t gross you out with the details), so regular polish just doesn’t cut it for me so I rarely even bother to put it on (much less have the extra time and money to go to the nail salon every week). When I was given the opportunity to try the brand new SensatioNail Invincible Gel Polish by Nailene , I was beyond stoked. But I have to be honest with you, I was also a bit apprehensive. I have a confession, I absolutely, without a doubt, suck at painting my own nails. Like really suck. I am right-handed and my left hand is basically useless. I can’t even change a diaper with my left hand, how exactly am I supposed to paint my other hand with something that is ment to be difficult to get off. What if I screw it up?

Well, lucky for me it was MUCH easier than I had anticipated and I ended up with salon looking gel polished nails. I’ve even had compliments from random people at Starbucks! You should have seen their faces when I told them I did it myself at home! Even my friend Laura commented on how good they looked over lunch, and she’s tough to please.

The process is super easy and I found it to be much less time-consuming than it is at the salon. The consistency was very smooth which was helpful when painting my opposite hand. It flowed and spread all on its own so it came out smooth and beautiful. I was not expecting that.

I think the light is what makes it the coolest. You get a miniature version of the big salon LED light in the starter kit! The light cures and sets the polish in either a 30 or 60 second process (depending on which step you’re on). The light itself will turn off when you get to the 60 second point and beep at 30 seconds.

I can’t even tell you how easy this was. Honestly, it was EASIER than regular polish and because it is gel polish, there is absolutely NO dry time! Which was perfect considering nap time was over. (Reason #987453847 why I don’t paint my own nails. Who has that kind of time to sit around and wait for their polish to dry? If I had that kind of time my house would be way cleaner than it is now.)

There are currently 12 colors  to choose from and I hear they are adding more soon. And even if you’re not a colored polish kind of girl, you can use just the clear top coat and reap the same benefits that gel polish is known for without the color.

When I told some of my girlfriends that I was going to be trying this out, I can’t tell you how many people were dying to see what I thought. Well, I love it. I may go get pedicures once a week but I am no longer paying for mani’s. Why would I when I can do just as good a job at home for less?

SensatioNail Invincible Gel Polish is currently sold at your local CVS and Wal-Mart stores but you can check here to find a location nearest you.

The SensatioNail Invincible Gel Polish Starter Kit retails for $59.99 which comes with everything you need to achieve 10 salon perfect manicures, including the LED lamp and one color, with additional colors being sold separately for $11.99. But remember, the polish lasts for 2 full weeks (at least) and at 10 applications per kit, that’s about $6 per manicure!

I’m raising a criminal

I’m raising a criminal

(Name of specific grocery store withheld in order to protect the un-innocent. Is un-innocent even a word? If it isn’t, it should be.)

It’s happened, every parents worse fear. My child has embarked on a life of crime.

And aside from aiding and abedding this criminal, I was also an unwitting accomplace.

Lock us up.

Yesterday was grocery day in the Yontz house and often times I let Audrey help me “hold” various things in order to keep her quiet, or at the very least, keep the noise leve to a low roar. (You’re welcome fellow shoppers.)

But yesterday she took her assistance to a whole new level. I got all checked out, bags loaded up in the cart, off to the car I go.  I get everything in the trunk of my car and as I pick up Audrey to put her in her carseat…I find them.

Exhibit A, B & C.

STOLEN OBJECTS! Audrey STOLE stuff. She hid them under her woobie in the cart and they were not paid for upon check out. Where did I go wrong with this child? What’s next, car stereos and nose rings?

In her defense, she’s 2 so i’m sure the crime was purely unintentional. I’m also sure she wasn’t really hiding them under the woobie but merely placed them next to her and happened to just throw her woobie over them, but still…

(Side note, good thing her father is an attorney. Save us on legal fees in the future.)

It gets worse though. Upon finding her stash I was torn. Do I go back inside and pay OR get in to the car and go home. Keep in mind that going back into the store isn’t as easy as it sounds since we live in Arizona and it’s already hot here. Leaving the grocery bags in the car isn’t an option so I’d have to put everything back into the cart to return to the crowded store.

It’s probably not going to be a huge surprise to any of you that I just put her in the car and went home. It was hot and I had to get home to start googling boarding schools. I did however say a prayer to Jesus on the way home appologizing for my child breaking one of the 10 commandments and promised him that I will, from now on, be frisking her upon checkout. Amen.

Can you IMAGINE if I had gotten caught? Picture me walking out of the store, alarms go off, security throws me on the floor, pulling out the good screaming, “A-HA! Just as I suspected! Sargento! She’s likes the good stuff boys, CUFF HER!” I mean seriously, I’m one of those people who hears the door alarms go off in stores and I immediately frisk myself to make sure it’s not me. I already have a guilty conscience so this isn’t going to help.

This whole mom gig get’s more and more interesting by the day. Last week she told me “That cool Mommy”. She’s 2! Does anyone else have a criminal in the family? What would you have done if you were me?
