Us girls love to look younger. Whether we’re in our thirties, forties, for fifties, we always want to appear half our age. However, this may seem like a facade, and something only the celebrities and rich people can achieve. Fear not! It’s possible for you to look younger with natural methods. From getting a better night’s sleep to giving yourself a facial workout, rehauling your wardrobe to improving your diet, here are a few things you may never have thought of, which make you look and feel amazing.

Rejuvenate your skin

Our skin is the first thing we see to age, after all, it’s had a hard time and been exposed to all the harsh elements of the world. It may come as a surprise, but wearing less makeup makes you look a lot younger. Remember when you were a teenager and piled on the foundation and eye shadow just to look older? Now you’re doing the opposite! Ironic, right? Some people are just lucky and keep their skin almost flawless until old age. However, they tend to do the right things and have a positive outlook. There are certain types of food you can eat which give you healthier looking skin. Nuts are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and Vitamin A which is vital for protecting your skin against wrinkles. Fruits and berries such as red grapes, prunes, apricots and pears are fantastic sources of antioxidants and provide an abundance of beautiful skin. Fish is also an excellent source of omega-3 fatty oils and improves the elasticity of your skin, which means bye bye wrinkles. Seriously, guys, nature gives us all the tools to look amazing, we just need to use them!

Give your wardrobe a makeover

Now, this bit of advice is one of the most essential on the list. Altering the way you dress can make a huge difference to how young and stylish you look. If you stand in front of your dresser every morning, scratching your head at what you should wear and look at clothes which you’ve owned for years, this may be a good indication that you need to update your fashion sense! Take a moment and ask yourself ‘when was the last time I wore a dress which wasn’t for my wedding?’. If you’re struggling to find an answer, prepare to go clothes shopping! Consider shopping at more youthful fashion stores. Even though they’re considerably more expensive, designer clothes can make you stand out from the crowd. To get better deals, search the internet for sales and promotions on certain high-street brands. At the moment, you can get 30% off for Flannels products. Gaining inspiration from the top fashion brands gives you the sense of style you need to dress with a younger flare.

Get a new hairdo

If you’re giving yourself a whole new look, why not go wild and change your hair too? The key thing to remember is that it’s all in the length. Typically, shoulder-length hair suits anyone of any age and is a wonderful look to pull off. This works better if you have straight hair, however if you have wavy or curly locks, consider long layers cut to the shoulders or just above for a sultry, sassy look. Highlights are a subtle way of giving you a youthful look too. Now, let’s talk about bangs. Bangs work wonders in knocking years off your appearance. If you’re going for the full blunt look, have a hair stylist cut your bangs, so they’re just skimming your eyebrows or just below. If you want to save money, learn how to cut your own bangs by browsing the internet for great tips and advice. Having bangs may not be your thing, and that’s absolutely fine. If so, think about getting a center parting. These look fabulous on women with square or round faces, but try it nonetheless! The best way to do a center part is not to make it exactly center (this just looks unnaturally perfect), instead let it part where your natural parting lies.

Exercise on a regular basis

A bit of a cliche one, yes, but it works! It’s said that exercise is like nature’s energy drink. It releases feel-good endorphins, making you feel more alert and alive. This increase of vigor can be seen in your appearance, which gives you a younger look! Exercising also produces substances that help slow the aging of your skin and improves your muscles and joint flexibility. Another huge benefit of working out is that it gives you a better sleep experience. The more restful your sleep is, the fresher you look! Beauty sleep is not a myth. It’s been proven that it optimises your body functions, meaning you feel less stressed.

Most of us have such a busy schedule with full-time jobs, looking after our children and just generally keeping the house tidy, that it may seem hard to make time for exercise. If you’re someone who struggles to find the time, think outside the box, you could even exercise with the family. This is killing two birds with one stone, as you’re looking after the kids while getting a workout at the same time.

Don’t forget about those pearly whites

The first thing which most people notice when they look at you are those teeth. Yellow, stained teeth is a dull reminder of aging and can be expensive to afford treatment. Nonetheless, there are ways you can prevent and even remove imperfections from your teeth without needing the help of a dentist. Consider using stain removal strips, lemon juice or other home remedies to whitening up your smile. If you feel like you’ve gone past repair with your stained teeth, consider investing in whiter teeth with an orthodontist. It doesn’t matter if you’re 70 or 80, there is no age limit to getting your teeth treated. Not only does having better teeth make you look younger, but it gives you more confidence and durability.

Treat your feet!

We all seem to forget about the things which keep us standing! Ensure that you give your feet the same luxury as you give your face. Do all the basic treatments like keeping them clean, filing hard skin, cutting your nails and checking them regularly for infections and calluses. To go the extra mile, however, you need to schedule the time to pamper them every day (or every other) to avoid the effects of old age and keep your feet looking happy. Fill a bowl of warm water with bath salts or oils, whatever you like, and soak your feet for at least ten minutes. Try adding some milk to the water too. Doing this gets rid of some of those nasty dead skin cells and revitalises your feet. After this, treat your tootsies to a lovely massage. This feels wonderful at the end of a long, hard day and not only makes your feet look younger but has fantastic health benefits such as increasing blood flow.

You should also think about the shoes you’re wearing. Pick footwear which fits you well and is breathable. This doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing high heels and knee-high boots, just don’t wear them all the time!

Pay attention to the little things

Though it may seem like they’d make no impact, small things like putting on nail varnish, using jewellery to accessorise and wearing sunglasses take you back to your youthful days! Even smiling more brings a positive aura out of you. First impressions are key, and if you own that radiant smile, people will think you are much younger than you actually are.
